Hi Art! Spring 2017 Classes

Opera 'N Art: Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte

Now in its nineteenth year, Hi Art! and Opera ’N Art open the landscapes of contemporary art and music to children of all ages—from toddlers to preteens this Fall Opera 'N Art kids and their parents will dive head-first into Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, an hilarious (and poignant) comedy of a bet gone wrong. All Girls are the Same says Don Alfonso, and it’s up to Team Ferrando and Gullermo to prove him wrong! Look forward to a creative burst of hands-on art, music and movement in our sunny Chelsea studio coupled with a dotting of gallery hops and museum visits the best art shows in the city! Studio time is a fluid, mixed-media party that focuses on a modern musical masterpiece through a tantalizingly delightful hands-on art project for the full trimester. Based on a pedagogy that privileges process over result, Hi Art! supports a child’s instinctive desire to create, develop his or her own ideas. This Best of New York arts program artfully combines a broad range of recognizable skills and materials (gross and fine motor skills, design, language, cultural history, musical repertoire, art theory, critical thought, self-expression, dance and choreography) with the “invisible” skills that build sensitive, insightful children who are independent thinkers. Younger children work alongside their adult companions each at his or her own pace and big kids are always free to go it alone! Join the fun: Wherever great art is, HiArters go!

Opera 'N Art: 19 years of everything great for the world’s arts savviest kids!

Partial scholarships available, please address requests to the Director.

10% of all HiArt! tuitions will be donated directly to
